Open Positions

The Institute of Mathematics at University of Zurich and the Department of Mathematics at ETH Zurich invite applications for doctoral and postdoctoral positions with focus on areas in mathematical finance and actuarial mathematics (A. Nikeghbali, University of Zurich; P. Embrechts, J. Muhle-Karbe, M. Schweizer, M. Soner, J. Teichmann, ETH Zurich) or in probability theory (E. Bolthausen, A. Nikeghbali, University of Zurich; P. Nolin, A.-S. Sznitman, ETH Zurich).

Post-doc positions are granted for a period of two years with the possibility of extension for an additional year.
Applicants for postdoctoral positions must have completed their PhD by the start of the appointment and preferably within the last 3 years. They should show strong promise in research.

PhD-positions are granted for a period of at least three years up to completion of the PhD-thesis. PhD-students are expected to engage in teaching in addition to research.

University of Zurich and ETH Zurich specifically encourage female candidates.

For full consideration, applications should reach us by December 31, 2010; the selection process will begin shortly thereafter. Later applications are nevertheless welcome and will be considered for any further positions.
