Registration procedure for Semester, Bachelor's and Master's theses

In planning your thesis work please follow the procedure below:

Every thesis must be registered with us via the corresponding form.

1. Collect the registration form from the pigeon holes in front of offices HG G 33.1 and HG G 33.2.
2. Select the colour according to your course of study.
   
3. Enter your thesis electronically in myStudies.
4. Fill out the registration form and have it signed by your supervisor.
5. Send the completed and signed form to the course secretary.
6. Please submit the signed declaration regarding plagiarism to your supervisor when your thesis is finished.
   

We will check over your form and send it to the instructor, who will later enter your grade and return the form to us.

If you have already completed a thesis but have not followed the above procedure, we kindly ask you to do so.

Deadlines
Only Master's theses must be completed within the specified time limits. All other theses are not subject to time limits. However, you must plan in advance if you wish to receive your credit points in time to apply for a BSc or MSc degree course.

Master-Thesis  during Spring Semester

This information concerns Master students who will hand in their Master thesis during Spring Semester and thus complete their studies.

If you enrolled for your Master thesis via www. mystudies.ethz.ch in the Autumn Semester and will hand in your thesis in the course of the Spring Semester 2009, it is not necessary for you to fully register for the Spring Semester.

Instead you can choose the option "leave of absence". For this, go through the semester enrolment process, but instead of accepting the following semester you click on the button "leave of absence".

During the leave of absence you remain matriculated, receive the usual confirmations and keep your ETH Card. You will then only have to pay for the compulsory fee CHF 64.-- and voluntary semester fees but not the tuition fee of CHF 580.--.

If you wish to take one subject or another, you may do so. In this case you will be charged CHF 30.-- per semester hour. Therefore, do not register for the Master thesis a second time, otherwise you would have to pay for it separately. The enrolment for the Master thesis in the Autumn Semester is sufficient to allocate the credits to your account.
